This Challenger V8 is out of a 1/3rd scale R/C Model T Bucket Roadster owned by Dave Bonney of Eugene, OR. The car was bought with the understanding that is was fully functional, including the engine. Unfortunately, the engine would not run after being purchased by Mr. Bonney.

This Challenger V8 is out of a 1/3rd scale R/C Model T Bucket Roadster owned by Dave Bonney of Eugene, OR. The car was bought with the understanding that is was fully functional, including the engine. Unfortunately, the engine would not run after being purchased by Mr. Bonney.

I was hired in 1999 to rebuild the Bonney Challenger V8. Disassembling the motor piece by piece, this engine was refurbished from the ground up. The block, heads, and cam were about the only parts that were able to be reused. New pistons, rods, and a new crankshaft were fabricated to provide stout internal parts to handle the rigors of powering an R/C car. An oil pump, water pump, and electric starter was also added to help make this engine a formidable powerplant.
